Our methodology

A Repeatable Path From Research to Measurement.

Search Experts runs every engagement through the same five phases, whether the work is technical SEO, AI search visibility or an automation build.

The phases exist to prevent the two most common failures in search programs: executing tactics before the architecture can support them, and reporting activity instead of outcomes.

Five phases

  1. Understand
  2. Architect
  3. Build
  4. Establish authority
  5. Measure and improve

Search Experts definition

The Search Experts operating system

A five-phase process — understand, architect, build, establish authority, measure and improve — applied consistently across SEO, AI Search Optimization and AI Agents & Automation so that decisions are traceable and outcomes are comparable to a baseline.

The Five Phases

Each phase produces specific artifacts that the next phase depends on.
  1. Understand

Market, customer, intent, competition and business value. We establish what a result would need to look like before proposing any work.

    • Demand and intent map
    • Competitive position
    • Baseline measurement
    • Defined objective
  2. Architect

URL structure, content relationships, technical foundation, entities and workflows. Architecture decisions constrain everything built afterward, so they come early.

    • Silo and URL plan
    • Technical remediation plan
    • Entity model
    • Internal linking design
  3. Build

Content, technical work, AI systems and integrations. Execution is sequenced so that dependencies are resolved before the work that relies on them.

    • Published content
    • Technical fixes
    • Structured data
    • Agents and automations
  4. Establish authority

Links, reviews, corroboration, research and demonstrated expertise. Authority is earned externally and cannot be substituted with on-site signals.

    • Earned references
    • Reputation improvements
    • Original research
    • Verified entity data
  5. Measure and improve

Visibility, citations, leads, revenue and workflow efficiency, compared against the baseline set in phase one. Findings feed back into the next cycle.

    • Baseline comparison
    • Attribution notes and limits
    • Next-cycle priorities

Guardrails We Do Not Break

These rules hold regardless of client pressure or timeline.
  • No URL is renamed or removed without a 301 and a link, canonical and sitemap update.
  • Existing pages are strengthened before near-duplicates are created.
  • Structured data describes what is genuinely on the page — nothing more.
  • Reporting states the measurement method and what it cannot attribute.
  • Any tactic that risks long-term search equity is rejected, even when it would work short term.

Methodology FAQs

It depends on the starting state and the competitiveness of the market. Technical corrections can register quickly; content depth and authority compound over months. We set a baseline in phase one so change is measurable rather than asserted.
